HOLY CONVERSATIONS

HOLY CONVERSATIONS are happening again. Several members have graciously accepted the role of “host” either in their own home or here at church. The host is providing hospitality to those who come for the conversation. Pastor Joyce is doing her best to attend every conversation in the role of “facilitator.”

The content of the meetings will focus on Trinity’s norms and values. Norms are those unwritten, more or less unconscious “rules” that the congregation lives by. Values are those behaviors or concepts that the congregation labels important. An example of a norm might be “Don’t rock the boat!” An example of a value might be “ministry to children.”

Holy Conversation 3 will help us clarify who we are as a congregation. It will also likely identify behaviors that the congregation would want to modify or change. This must be accomplished before we are able to create an accurate statement of mission for Trinity and develop a vision for the future.

All of these Holy Conversations in which we are engaging will provide the necessary background to eventually create a congregational profile that will accurately communicate to pastoral candidates a clear and concise thumbnail description of Trinity Lutheran Church as well as what gifts and skills will be required of the next pastor.

Be sure to sign up for one of the “cottage meetings” planned. The sign up sheets are in the gym. We have made an effort to provide opportunities in several geographic areas and at different times during the day, as well. So far, there are meetings scheduled in Chicago, Park Ridge, Arlington Heights, and Northbrook, and Western Springs. Time of day includes late morning, early afternoon and evening.
