In her first meeting with the council as Trinity's new interim pastor, Pastor Karen O'Malia gave a detailed overview of the directions she hopes to help us pursue. She touched upon a number of areas: ways to get young families more involved n our congregational life; how we conduct such activities as stewardship, education, evangelism, youth and family, and fellowship, if we have specific individuals responsible for these areas, and how we can be better organized to achieve our goals in these areas; concerns about how we relate to our neighbors and how they view us; becoming a welcoming congregation for gay men and lesbians; setting of deadlines and priorities; responsiveness of church officers and council to individual members' concerns; how the congregation deals with change.
Please see elsewhere in this newsletter for a more detailed account of Pastor O'Malia's remarks.
The pastor invites people to come and talk to her if they have questions, problems or concerns. She believes direct communication is the best approach.

Treasurer's Report
For June, income was $18,770.61; expenses were $24,073.42; June's total balance was negative $5,302.81.
For July, income was $43,839.82; expenses were $25,525.04; July's balance was $18,314.78. It was noted that approximately $32,000 of the July income was "non-budget income" from a Merrill-Lynch investment account and not from weekly giving.
For the fiscal year from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, income was $287,476.75; expenses were $312,363.37. For the ‘07/‘08 fiscal year, the negative balance was $24,886.62 (that is, expenses exceeded income).
Among property-related yearly expenses were large increases for heating, electricity and snowplowing.
