Thanksgiving Day Items For the Homeless

Care packages of food items and specific clothing articles will be collected and packed for distributing to homeless people living in lower Wacker Drive and under some of Chicago's bridges. Needed are juice boxes, health bars, individual bags of chips and fruit cups. Produce (such as apples, oranges, bananas, etc.) may be brought in closer to Thanksgiving. Clothing articles needed are large-sized sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece wear, jackets, stocking caps, gloves or mittens, socks, scarves and blankets. Toiletries such as combs, brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes and soap are also useful. Monetary donations will also be used for purchasing some of the above items. Volunteers are needed for packing and making sandwiches on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 27) at 9:00 a.m. and a limited amount of caravan cars and distribution volunteers are needed to drive downtown at 10:00 a.m. (returning at 1:00 p.m.) Please sign up on the goldenrod sheet. Please bring in the clothing items after November 1st. If you have any questions please see Floyd Rueger. Thank you!
